What Role Does Age Have In Getting A Job?

This post is about jobs in my hometown of Jacksonville, FL. It's evident that there's a work shortage here. Is there a specific reason? Could not getting a job not be related to not having enough experience? You're too old? Or is it because they want to place someone in the position that you know, like a family member or a family friend, therefore not giving others a fair chance at the position? Every time a qualified person is turned down for a job, it's less revenue for the city. There are no taxes being paid, and the person eventually has to apply for unemployment and food stamps. So I'm asking, how have you been turned down for a job recently, and what do you feel was the reason? This doesn't just apply to here in Jacksonville, but wherever you live. I want this open to everyone
